If anyone deserved a perfect wedding in sunny Spain, it was Amanda and Paul who had had a really tough year. Their wedding in May feels like an eternity ago for me, but on looking back at the photos, I remember how inspired I felt by Amanda and Paul´s strength. As its their little boys birthday day, I thought it apt to share some of their wedding photos. Happy Birthday Charlie 🙂
When couples decide to get married in Spain, lots of couples have their hearts set on a beachside venue and come to Spain on a quest to find their beachside venue in Spain. Even if couples think they are 100% set on a beach venue, I still like couples to see other options so they compare venues. It never fails to surprise me how often couples come to Spain set on a beach venue and end up falling in love and booking a completely different venue such as a hotel in the mountains!
In Amanda and Paul´s case, they too had their hearts set on a beach venue, but when they came to Spain, they decided on the quaint and charming village of Benahavis as their wedding setting. Gran Hotel Benahavis which is set in the mountains 20 minutes from Marbella has been a really popular venue this season for weddings. The hotel has something special about it and suited Amanda´s vintage theme to a tee.
When I first met Amanda, I thought she was a beautiful girl, but on her wedding day she looked absolutely breathtaking. Congratulations Amanda and Paul xxxx
When I went to see Kathe at about 1pm on the day of the wedding, I asked for her and was told “oh she went for a sleep” This was a first LOL and showed how laid back she was 🙂 so I left her to it and headed of to the venue. The bloody clouds were still screaming “Im going to rain” but I was determined to at least keep the ceremony and welcome drinks outside, which is exactly what happened. I knew it was going to rain at some point so we decided to set up the reception inside. THANK GOD because at the end of the drinks reception, the heavens opened.
Even though having dinner inside was plan B, it still looked stunning. Very Spanish, and perfect for guests that had travelled from Norway for a Spanish wedding.
As usual, the whole team made this wedding seamless. A huge hug to the venue owners, who let me leave it until the very last minute for setting up the ceremony – most venues dont allow this!
Thanks to David Toms for capturing this wedding so beautifully and making it look stunning even in the rain!, Amanda Wilcox for learning a song in Norwegian (yes she doesnt speak Norweigan but sang in it) I didnt understand a word, but it sounded great, Gorgeous Event Decoration for the pretty stuff, Little Lolas Cupcakes for the yummy cakes, DJ ROB rocks the House for being the best DJ, Marbella Video for videography (Dougie is going to find it hard to edit 3 hours of speeches in Norwegian 😉 Vicki Rhodes for a moving ceremony and Tamara Vega for being my right hand girl.
