Wedding in Spain

2014 wedding season starts for me in a month, quite an start early this year, and I just don’t know where the time has gone. I haven’t even been able to blog about all my lovely 2014 brides and grooms yet!
As the time draws closer for weddings to start, and my sleep is filled with wedding nightmares, it not only calms me but also reassures me to look at past wedding photos. Photos like the ones in this blog remind me exactly what all these sleepless nights, worry, stress and taking it out on my kids is all about :)
August 17th 2014 saw the wedding of the the lovely Louise and Thomas.
It was a beautiful sunny day and the kind of weather people expect for a wedding in Spain.
Louise and Thomas tied the knot in the ever popular church of La Encarnacion in Marbella Old Town and their guests were treated to a reception in the fabulous Don Pepe hotel.
Today, I was asked by a potential client “Why would I pay a wedding planner when the venue offers a free wedding planner?”  There are several reasons why a good wedding planner is worth her/his weight in gold and I shall blog about this another day, but looking at these wedding photos reminded me of something – Louise wasn’t happy with her first hair trial and did not have time to have another trial before she went back to Ireland and would only be back in Spain a couple of days before the wedding. So Jane, the lovely hairdresser, did another trial for Louise ON ME. I sent Louise the photos of my hair trial (which she liked),  and I think this spared her from months of fretting and worrying about her hair. I think its safe to say a venue wedding planner wouldn’t have done that. Come to think of it, I don’t think any wedding planner would do that!
Louise and Thomas thank you for having me. xx

Monasterio de San Martin wedding

So its November and Im still only just getting round to posting some of 2013´s weddings. This is supposed to be my down time, but I have been a very busy bee showing future couples round the Costa del Sol and preparing 2014 weddings.
Looking back at photos of Emma and Gavin´s wedding, one word springs to mind – SOULMATES. Emma and Gavin had been together for many years before they tied the knot in Marbella Old Town. Not only were they in love, but it was clear to everyone around them, that they were best friends too.
Emma and Gavin’s wedding took place in La Encarnacion church in Marbella Old Town and then guests were taken on a little road trip to Monasterio de San Martin for their reception. This venue is one of my favourite venues and its absolutely stunning.
Id love to say there were no dramas at this wedding, but due to the garden area at the venue being swarmed with flying fruit flies we had to ditch our original plan of setting up the dinner area outside and move under a covered terrace. I remember thinking “Oh God, how am I going to tell the bride” but when I told her she was totally calm and wasn’t at all bothered. Honestly, I thought it was only the weather than could make a reception be moved under cover, but oh no, we also have to consider flying insects now! LOL
I have said this before, but I LOVE LOVE bold colour schemes at weddings. You can see from the photos below how the blue stands out :) Emma and Gavin’s table plan was a huge hit too – each guest had a Polaroid photo of themselves next to the table they were sat at.
This couple were a pleasure to work with and wish they all the happiness in the world.
Congratulations Emma and Gavin xx

Weddings in Spain

Corrine and Neil were married in Spain in May. They had their ceremony in the Encarnacion Church in Marbella and had their reception in Gran Hotel Benahavis.

Corrine is a wedding photographer based in Ireland and she was quiet clear that she wanted a no fuss wedding. I already felt for the photographer she ended up booking as the pressure for him would have been incredible! Corrine and Neil booked David Toms as their photographer, and all I can say is he worked his hole off all day. The end result was amazing and the couple were VERY happy.

Corrine was my tomboy bride and on her wedding day, she turned into a beautiful princess. Her and Neil were amazing to work with and very laid back. I might add that when Corrine first called me, she had sent out her save the date cards for 11th May 2013 but hadnt actually booked a venue or church LOL Thats pretty laid back!

After a few emails and chats, Corrine booked her wedding venue in the charming town of Benahavis. I knew she would love it in the flesh, but it was still a relief when she saw it for the first time and loved it.

Thanks to everyone involved in making the day run so smoothly :)

I received this lovely email from Corrine after her wedding:

So this is a biggggggggggggg and huuuuuuuuuuuuge thank you to you, I have been thinking of writing this for ages instead of just writing it, but to be honest words fail me…….. your not only first and foremost a friendly, warm, funny, sound, amazing woman but also extremely professional at what you do which makes you the perfect wedding planner. From the first phone call where you could sense I was ripping my hair out, you de-stressed me, and I think you just have a very calm voice. You put together ideas, and options and then a plan came together!. That plan turned out to be one of the best days ever. Neil and I can’t thank you enough. Our family and friends have had such a memorable experience which you worked so hard to make happen, Thank you so much for everything. Everyone commented on how the day flowed so well, and how everything just seemed to happen so effortlessly, which is all down to you. I really can’t thank you enough. I hope your heads swelling, cause it deserves to! your brilliant. Ok thanks so much again, xxxNeil & Corrine.
